ABOUT BECKY

Becky Miková is a Slovak stop-motion animator and art department assistant based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in Film First Class BA (Hons), after 4 years of studying at the Screen Academy Scotland. One of her animated shorts 'Kale Tale' (2018) has been shown as part of the "Write Shoot Cut" screenings in Summerhall, showcasing new Scottish filmmaking talent.

Most of her documentary work maps out various political regimes in Slovakia and their impact on her family and home country. Her upcoming short documentary 'The House of Culture' shines a spotlight on the lack of space for cultural happenings in her home city Banská Bystrica, emphasising the importance of preserving independent culture.

Some of her recent work includes site specific video installation. Her video installation 'About my grandmother's land' (2018) was part of an art exhibition in Opava (Czech Republic), which served as an opening event for the Opava Art Festival.

Apart from documentary films and stop motion animation, Becky also specialises in production design.

Her production design for 'Mark at the Supermarket' (2019) received a nomination for Best Production Design at

Swindon International Film Festival.
