SYNOPSIS
The House of Culture used to be the centre of the community in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. After years of neglect, it is now in decay and ruin. The centre of community holds a strong place in Becky's family’s heart, with many memories of the building in its prime. This short documentary follows the story of the House of Culture through 3 generations of the Miková family, and the memories that they have of it. The family memories of the House of Culture map out various political regimes, but also show how these times have impacted the family and many others alike.
Through a combination of dreamy recreations, stop-motion animation and phone conversations between the director Becky, her mother and grandmother, the memory of the House of Culture comes to life.
